Gained a POUND; but loss inches? WHAT?
Okay so this morning at 4:30 a.m. I stepped on the scale and I gained a pound. No big deal but yesterday I did my measurements and I loss 2 1/2 inches on my hips (which is why I’m in the 14’s YEAH) and 3 inches off my waist (yeah baby) 1 1/2 off my calves and 1 inche off each arm and 1 1/2 off each thigh! So my problem is this…I’m losing inches and I guess gaining muscle (which is not what I want to do at this point) I still have too much fat on my body to lose - lol. So I have to figure out a new workout regiment. I wish I could hire a personal trainer but on the east coast they are so expensive as in $1,500 for a week (yeah right) I can do my own and go shopping with that money. Well… the good news is that I’m not sad - just confused; but I’ll work it out! Any ideas on how I can change this. I currently alternate between my treadmill and tae-bo in the a.m. 5 days a week and Curves 4 days a week. My body is getting tight and clothes fit good but I don’t won’t to look like the “HULK”. Even my husband said last night WOW baby you are really getting thin and fit! And hey I’ll lose that pound by tomorrow so that’s not a big deal at all. But I have to change up something because I still have over 40 lbs to lose!!!! Any ideas…I would appreciate them all. Well not going to workout out this a.m. going to send a few shout-outs and go back to bed. Talk with you guys later!!!! You know that’s insane; I had 1 lb to lose to make the 60 lb club this week! Hopefully by my real weigh-in tomorrow the pound will be gone!!!!

HI…way to go…Wat else can i say??????????U r doing gr8…but u know wt a pund gain may not be a constant feature..maybe its water weight or pms?But r u doing alot of weight lifting..from wt i read i think lifting smaller weights but doing more reps will help in toning body without putting on too much muscle bulk..and maybe u can add a bit more challenging cardio workout….would u like add somes swimming or an extr1 5 min on ur treadmill to increase the fat loss….i hope this helps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Ur hubby must be going ga ga over u…Isn’t tat fantastic!

Me, SWIM sorry but I can’t swim lol and even if I could I would not get in the water I’m at the hairdresser every week as it is lol lol lol Thanks sweetie will try more walking. Not really
lifting too many weights! Sorry it cut off before I could finish!
I think you are doing great! As for the excercise I am not giving advice on that, I still need more advice on that one myself!LOL! I need to start toning up more, and hoping that hubby and I can start doing this together for more motivation! Woo Hoo, you are doing so good losing those inches and the pounds will be dropping righ off again!

Have and awesome day!
You should *never* be concerned about gaining muscle. I becoming some kind of she hulk is something that concerns a lot of women, but it really shouldn’t be. Here are a few reasons why:
* You will never start looking like a muscle-bound body builder by accident. It will just never never never happen. The kind of physique that concerns people takes an enormous amount highly specific work and dedication and just will never happen with standard exercise or weight lifting.
* Instead the sort of physique you get as you lose fat or gain muscle is the kind of trim and toned look that most people are after.
* One reason that muscle is really good is that at rest it burns significantly more calories than fat. Muscle helps you lose weight just by sitting there and not doing anything! Muscle is your friend!

We all seem to be pretty hung up on weight as the main measure of progress. I’m guilty of this as well. But for any of us losing inches really should be a much greater achievement.
If you maintain or gain weight but lose inches it means that you have:
* Lost fat
* Improved how you look
* Got healthier
* Got fitter
* Increased the amount of calories your body is burning at rest (which makes it easier to lose more fat.
It’s win, win, win all around. In terms of measuring achievement we should all be taking inches > pounds any day of the week. But yeah, it’s hard to look at it that way when we’re so used to using weight to measure how we’re doing.
So congratulations on losing inches. I think it sounds like what you’re doing now is working pretty well.
Hi:
Boy, when I read your blog, I was really ready to let you have it, but Ash has hit it on the head!! Don’t ever worry about bulking up, for women, we would have to take a lot of meds to do that. I can’t say it enough on how ash was right. I am so glad that he wrote you. You just keep doing what your doing. and Inches gone is sooooooo much better than the weight thing. Its hard to get your head around it, but here’s an example. I have lost 20 pounds before, and could only get into a tight 18. Now that I work out, I have lost 8 inches and 10 pounds, and I am into a size 16. Right now though, it is a baggie 16. Can’t wait for the next 5 inches gone. 14’s here I come!! The last time I was into 14’s I weighed 175. And I am still 211 now, and close to a 14!!! So cheer up you are doing great! you have a wonderful weekend!

Girl, can we switch becuase I am having the exact opposite problem!! I am dropping pounds left and right but not loosing the inches anymore??? What’s up with that. But see my main work out is curves and the swimming, so I was going to reccommend swimming but I know you can’t swim, so I am sorry I don’t know!!
But Girl, look at Billy Blanks (or whatever his name is) that Tea Bo does bulk you up!!!
FORGET IT GIRL, YOU LOOK GOOD!!! We have all been tied to the scale for too long anyway!!
Muscle is FABULOUS Honey!!! Us ladies dont’ wanna look like John Cena, of course….but muscle helps burn fat. Keep up the good work honey, you are doin great!
Congrats on the muscle! Way to go!

I think it is great that you have muscle, to burn the fat…I do also tend to have the scale almost as my diet BIBLE!!! I depend on it too much to tell me how I am doing, I think we are all guilty of that too! I am enjoying going down in sizes too, but I am in sizes that others are in talkking about they weigh lots more! ughhh…I weigh less than them and still in same size what the heck it doesn’t seem fair…the body is different for everyone, no weight on the scale, or size can define us yet we tend to let it! I am waitibng for those new pictures…I know you look awesome! Angie

So, you are losing inches but not lbs. That is OK. Your body is just redistributing your weight and sometimes it needs a little time to do that.
If you weren’t losing inches or lbs. I would worry, but you have lost inches. Don’t worry yet.
Give yourself another week of really being strict with your diet and exercise. I can almost guarantee that you will lose lbs. (yes plural #’s) next week. Don’t ask me why, but I have been down this road enough to know that this is how it sometimes works.
Good luck girl.
